About Carey & Walker Family History

Just a little bit more about this website, our intentions with it and some suggestions for you.

For a number years, we received some wonderful Christmas gifts of family history from my Aunt Renae.  She gathered stories, life histories, pictures, and made copies and distributed to her nephews and nieces for Christmas.  We loved getting them and seeing the pictures and stories.

Sue and I wondered how we might extend that to our sons and wondered about some of my other cousins and how they would do the same.  We tried making copies of the copies that we received, but the results were not good.  We thought of this idea of digitizing what Renae had given us, adding to it digitized copies of original pictures, so that all of our families might enjoy this stories and pictures of our ancestors.

We decided to include Sue’s side of the family on this also, since we started it for our sons.  We’ve organized it by grandparent surname, four from Scott’s side of the family (Carey, Grosvenor, Tibbitts, Grant), and four from Sue’s side (Walker, Kourian, Boman, Pitcher).  All posts pertaining to that grandparent or their ancestors can be found underneath the category for the grandparent (links to those 8 grandparent surnames are at the top and at the right side).

We’ve also tagged the name of any ancestor that appeared in a particular post, so you can see all posts that contain any particular person. You can also use the search feature to search the website.

We intend to keep adding to the collection of pictures and stories through the year.  You can see the latest by looking at the Archives section on the right side of the page and selecting the month of publication of the post.

If you are familiar with RSS feeds and RSS feed readers, you can access the RSS feed for the site at the top of the page.  There is also an RSS feed for every grandparent surname.  SImply add “feed/” to the end of the URL for the page for each surname, and that will get you the RSS feed you need to subscribe in other programs to see posts that are added for that grandparent and their ancestors.

We would love it if you would send us digital pictures and copies of stories to share.  All will love and benefit from your contribution.  Other descendants of some of our ancestors that happen on this website will benefit as well.  I’ll add contact information shortly to allow you to submit information to us.

We hope you enjoy it.  Let us know of your suggestions.
