Blessing given by John H. Peterson, Patriarch, to Lilla Mozell Boman, daughter of John William Pitcher and Mary Clarissa Thornley; born 5 January 1901, at Smithfield, Utah.
Lilla Mozell Boman, in the authority of my calling, I lay my hands upon thy head and bestow upon thee a Patriarchal Blessing, that the comfort and guidance and inspiration which thou shalt be in need of in the days that are to come may be given thee as the spirit of the Lord may direct. He is pleased with thy integrety and the uprightousness of the motives that govern thy conduct and the ministry; and he is anxious and willing to lend an ear to thy prayers and send his holy messengers to warn thee of dangers that may lurk in thy pathway and to remove stumbling blocks that may hinder thy progress; also to comfort and cheer thee in hours of affliction. There shall come times when thou shalt seem to feel their very presence and thou shalt be made to rejoice in the mercy and bounty of God’s gracious gifts and graces most needful in carrying on thy household duties as a wife and mother in Israel. Thou shalt find time to work in the Lard’s vineyard in serving and helping thy fellowmen; in teaching the gospel; in guiding and advising the youth; in providing for the needy and comforting the down cast; in lifting up thy voice in prayer and praise unto thy maker and in testimony of the convictions of thy heart; and in thanksgiving for the wonderful blessings which he has poured out upon thee. Thou shalt know for an assurlty that God lives, that Jesus is indeed the Savior of the world, and that the time of his coming is near at hand. Thou shalt recognize in the events that are transpiring in the world the signs that have been promised should proceed his advent. It shall be thy privilege to labor in the House of the Lord, to officiate In the sacred ordinances that pertain to it. Thou shalt be the means of unlocking the prison doors of them that are bound; thou shall be inclined to fix thy mind and spirit upon the great goal of eternal life, and upon the realization of the attainments embraced in the holy covenant of marriage for time and all eternity. I bless thee that thy heart’s desire may come up before the Lord that when thou shalt ask in faith it may be given unto thee, that which will be for thy best good. Thou art a daughter of Ephriam and therefore an inheritor and heir to the promises connected with God’s covenant with Abraham; and it shall be given thee by the power of the Holy Ghost to appreciate in great measure what thy birthright signifies. I bless thee that health, strength, and vigor of body and mind may be given thee, that thy afflictions may be overcome and that thy life may be spared until thou has finished the work that was assigned unto thee in the pre-existence state; and I seal these blessings upon thee through thy faith and faithfulness, I seal thee up to eternal life to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection having worn the crown and glory of everlasting life through Jesus Christ, Amen.
